Choice $1250 New December 17! Rose-Blue Toning, Fully Struck, Challenging in AU Grades, Choice Surfaces, New Jersey Collection. 1842 New Orleans dime are well known for being poorly struck due to workmanship or lapped dies. The early New Orleans mint years saw aggressive die maintenance on the smaller demonization dies. Just arrived from the New Jersey Collection is a choice original 1842-O F dime with naturally toned surfaces with are also essentially unabraded. This deep South survivor has been well preserved. F-101, from the die pairing is most noted for full strikes from unpolished dies. This piece would be a CAC candidate if the grading was a bit more conservative, otherwise a fine representative for the date. Housed in NGC Gen 7 (1997-2000) holder.
